I find myself asking my boys (& myself) a lot, in view of a decision or dilemma:
Will this matter in an hour? A day, a week? Ten minutes?

Often the answer is an obvious ‘no’.
After months of this, I am beginning to feel that nothing ‘really’ matters…
It doesn’t matter if we have waffles & avocados for dinner. Or if my son does his homework while lying across the kitchen counter, or if we skip flossing & showers one night, & watch funny youtube videos instead…
But at the same time, it ‘all’ matters…
It matters how my face looks when my boy tells of the new game he’s going to create; how I respond when a bowl of O’s hits the floor; whether I say anything after my boys ‘clean up’ the smoothie (& I’m still finding purple crust on the walls & floor); how I react when I get blasted in the face with a mouthful of water, as my son is trying to get down his first ever ‘swallow-able’ vitamin… (I laughed like crazy! And was proud of myself later!)
Nothing matters, and yet, it all matters. Do you know what I mean?
icecream
Here’s another example 🙂 it doesn’t matter if we eat ice cream cones right before dinner… but at the same time, it totally matters that I DO eat ice cream cones with my boys right before dinner! Know what I mean? What message is embedded in that happy cone in the sunshine, when mommy ‘should’ be cooking? Hrrmmm?

I release my original mini painting each Thursday morning ~ I am also, always, creating larger original paintings to offer in the Online Studio Shop, as well as commissioned custom paintings for clients (pre-sold).
