a short blog: inserting a pondering into a sea of chatter

An Exercise Journey

We believe we need to ‘workout’ and over and over we head to the gym for an hour or more. It’s just what we do to stay in shape. I made zumba and bellyfit my lifestyle for 8 months. Going 2-3 times per week for an hour-long class at a great place with fabulous teachers. One day, it occurred to me that I was relying on someone else to make my body move. And just as I do not rely on anyone else to make me work, or clean, it seemed wrong. Plus, I was driving 15 minutes per day, and spending money for each class. That adds up when your schedule comes from within and your money comes from your paintbrush.

I decided to make exercise a smaller part of everyday, vs a larger part of 2-3 days per week. With an intention of integrating movement seamlessly into my life. 15-35 minutes per day: run, walk, dance, pilates, stretch. I do it all in my neighborhood and my home. It’s working for me. It’s low stress, flexible, completely changeable, adaptable and no one is telling me when to stop. I make me go. Kind of like my job. Effective, worthy, self-induced, successful, and involving music.

How can YOU take a common belief and give it a run for its money?

Have a great day,

Love & Sincerely, Katie
